I want to show a few pictures from
the latest set Airborne Miniatures:
3532 - Polaris RZR SW w/ Special Forces Crew.



As you can see in the first picture the box for a small model is quite large, (for comparison, Humbrol paint) why? The answer can be seen in the second picture.



All parts are very well secured in bags and bubble wrap.The manual consists of two sheets of A4 photocopies, but the very good quality manual assembly is available on the website:

Resin parts are very sharp without air bubbles, there are two lights from a transparent resin and a small photoetched grill on the front Polaris.
Wheels are very accurate and have the delicate sagged effect. Both figures driver and shooter also have a lot of details and are very sharp.

I think you might need to be careful with this kit. I don't think it is actually a production variant. Polaris provided a number of development prototypes to the US Army for testing before they settled on a final version (and this ain't it).

There are differences in the hood design, roll cage and the rear cargo area.

It's possible that some SF units used the earlier variants on active service but I'm not convinced about that.

I guess it's also used by Afghan Border Police units in Northern Afghanistan.

H.P., you’re really not helping here, you know.... I’m trying to resist buying one of those, and having the option of a GMG or twin MG mounts is very alluring. Do you have any more, please?

Looking at your first photo, there is a comms set up going on at the rear of the roll cage, some 40mm grenades slung under the spare tire, and the M3 at rear, too. Great reference, thanks!

Yes, these are the earlier Polaris RZRs. Now Polaris sells the MRZR and the "M" is a big difference in appearances for the two and four-seaters.

These ATVs are important because they can fit inside the CV-22s and MH-47s.

Actually, there's a public article I read that states that they're not really used anymore in combat due to the lack of armor and being so open. SOFs no longer prefer them *nowadays.* They're basically used for liaison, training, logistics, transport, and to get from Point A to Point B, but not full-blown combat missions anymore. For sure the MRZR has superseded the RZR.

Sorry Frenchy, I’ve since learned that there are some new 1/16 SF figures pending, so will be saving my pennies for those.
