Does anyone know if the TC's shield on the USMC M1A1's are available in 1/35? I tried searching and came up empty.

Nope. But I’m scratch building one as we speak, so expect one out soon.

Great! Looking forward to seeing it.

Were they used in Afghanistan? I saw they were used more recently during excercises in Poland and South Korea but haven't seen any on the USMC M1A1's deployed to Afghanistan.

In the photo in my original post, I noticed the loader's shield is missing. Did the USMC use the loader's shield?

It’s integral to the Stabilized Commander’s Weapon Station used on both USMC & ARNG M1A1. Search “M1A1 SCWS” for more images.

Thanks for the proper term. I had written it down some time ago but misplaced it.

Does anyone know if the USMC M1A1's use the part from the urban survivability kit pointed out with the white arrow below?

And to add another level to all this, the Marines are putting the old commanders cupolas on their M88’s

The USMC M1A1s with SCWS were not fielded yet when they were deploying to A'stan. So they have not been used in combat yet.

Here are a couple pics of USMC M1A1 HCs in A'stan. As you can see, from the TUSK, all they really have on them is the belly armor, thermal sight on the TC's .50 cal, and the Loader's gun shields. They also have the 2 DUKE antennas, EPLRS antenna, T/I phone box and slave cable box on the right rear, Blue Force Tracker (BFT) box on the right side of the Gunner's Primary Sight box, along with the folding BRE, exhaust delflector, and 8-shot smoke grenade launchers.

Thanks! I know about the other USMC specific parts. I have the Meng USMC M1A1 with the TUSK parts and plan to do mine as one used in Afghanistan including the belly armor, TC's .50cal thermal sight, M240 gun shield, DUKE antennas and will add a Live Resin BFT. I also have a Dragon exhaust deflector.

I know the BFT on the M1A1 is housed in a box as seen in the photo below. Looks to have a cover on it. Is it just the regular BFT like the Live Resin part inside that box? Are the covers always on?

No, the Live-Resin one you have pictured is a HMMWV/Stryker mount. The parts inside the box on it, are the same parts inside the box on the Abrams. It is just a different mount.

Thanks again!

Meng includes the BFT with the cover but was just wondering if the BFT cover on the USMC M1A1 was on at all times. The BFT parts are L10 and L14.

On this US Army M1 you can see the cover removed and the BFT inside the box looks similar to the one from Live Resin.

Here is another USMC M1A1 from ‎June‎ ‎12, ‎2018 that has the Stabilized Commander’s Weapon Station and a different cover on the BFT.
