Hello:

I´m building the maquette´s 1/35 BM-8-24 Katyusha rocket launcher on T-40 hull. I suppose that those system must have some kind of wiring mechanism to alloy the rocket´s firing. I want to know if someone here have pics or an explanation of how the launcher works, in order to place the wiring in the kit in case of.

Hope someone can help.

Best regards.

Dish Models.ru is always a good source for Soviet and Russian vehicles.

Panzerfan,

Bellow some pictures of the firing mechanism.
They come from BM 8-48 Manual(BM 8-48 has 2 stacked 8-24 rail sets).

Firing occured when electric impuls fired pyrocartridge into crescent-shaped pipe,that led the blast to the rocket's engine thus igniting it.After each firing, the spent pyrocatridge was removed and fresh one was loaded.

The firing device(located at the bottom of each rail)-pyrocartridges were loaded at the base of the crescent-shaped pipes:

Firing:

Wiring(battery 47,distributor 50, control panel 49,emergency switch 48 and connecting wires):

And the control panel:

It had a key, fuses to prevent shortcuts,a light, a hand-driven generator/distributor and an emergency switch to cut electricity if something goes wrong.The hand-driven generator had a Geneva drive distributor,that sent the electric impulse to different firing devices.For example: spining the generator 4 times not only generated current, but sent it-with every turn- to a different pyrocartridge.Rockets could be fired one by one, in groups of three or as a salvo.

Hope this helps,

Panzerfan

You're welcome Dan-T,

Please don't forget to post your work(why not in this thread).
I have plans to build a Bulgarian ZiS-150 based BM 8-48 someday, so your work might give me some ideas,
