I am planning a modern-day diorama depicting restoration work on a WW2 Jeep. I am aware that there are several kits in both 1/76 and 1/72 scale, but wonder which would be the most accurate and detailed (either resin or injection-moulded plastic).

S-Models makes a very decent Jeep kit...and there are two to the box!
