Hello Everyone,
I would just like to present Another one of my projects, The Modelcollect 1/72 scale Pershing 2 Missile with M983 HEMTT tractor.
Lost and lots of wheels...
Making these wheels is a bit challenging, sing the instructions aren't exactly clear where the parts fit together. i made a few mistakes putting the wheels together. i also had to sand some parts to make them fit.
Beautiful detail on the wheels.
The level of detail is impressive, especially on the engine. though this will be covered up.
I encountered some difficulty with the trailer stand.
I do not remember exactly which part but there is a problem on the instructions with E49,( and possibly E48)
The initial part on the instructions doesn't reach the trailer stand.
However, when substituting it for E47 (and E46 for the opposite side) it fits well.
These parts E34 AND E33 dont have tabs to attach them.
so i resorted to making tabs for the parts E34 and E33 to be attached to.
What a beauty.
I Built the launcher with moving parts to raise the Missile or down. I used an addition of brass wire and plasticard to replace dome of the original parts.
The kit is designed to have moving parts, however they break very easily.
The missile needed plenty of filling and sanding.
The first shade of green after i primed the model black. i didn't like this shade of green.
This is the Pershing missile once it was completed. i changed the shade of green with a mix of sand, brown and green.
On the same day that i completed My Nuclear arsenal, i had a military parade.
Here is the show room...
To conclude this build. i would just like to say that Modelcollect did a great job at detailing the Pershing 2 missile and the HEMTT tractor. When i first heard of this model i knew that this is a must have in my collection. However, this model is not that easy and straight forward to build because of fragile parts and small errors in the instructions. It is better suited for an experienced modeler.
Thank you for taking the time to see my project,
Hyder

What I wouldn't give for someone to make one of those in 1/35th.

Thinking the same thing. A P1 and/or P2 in 1/35. A Nike Herc is on the way so there is hope.

Nice work on the HEMTT and launcher. Surprised by the level of detail.

I am doing the same kit but with the MAN M1001 for a fellow Veteran that lives in Florida.
It's a nice little kit and the Tetra photo etch set adds a lot more for the launcher. At the time, only the photo etch set for the HEMTT was available and now they have a set for the MAN M1001.
Found great pictures from the 56th FA Brigade from Germany. Going to do a launch sight in the forest og Germany with pine trees and snow.
The gentleman bought the case for it and I just got it today. Waiting on the trees from him to start the diorama.

Mike,
It's Tetra that's makes the photo etch for this one, the HEMTT, and the one with the MAN M1001. I will ask the guy who I am building this for where he got the set. he is the one that has bought the kit and extra's for me to build. I do know he did get it from overseas.

HobbyEasy sells Tetra, as does Hobbylink Japan (marketed under PitRoad, but it is still Tetra product)
