Hello Everybody,
This is Last model i completed earlier in September. An S-300PMU 30N6E Radar tracking vehicle.
This is a cheap £10 4D model kit that wasn't very good for it's quality, nut i get what i pay for. The model was actually lacking a lot of detail so i put a lot of scratch building and extras to improve it.
A lot of cutting, filling and sanding had to be done.
I replaced the 4D model kit wheels with better Modelcollect rubber wheels.
I also added some plasticard to change to the shape of the windows.
I scratch built a new antenna out of brass rod.
The black primer for the vehicle body with grey primer on the wheels.
This is my attempt at putting an acrylic camouflage by hand. i didn't like the way it looked so i smoothed down the surface with a sanding sponge.
However, i began to like the faded look to it.
I then painted over it in plain old military green with chipping, washing and highlighted details.
This is before gluing the wheels and finishing with the glass parts.
once i finished polishing and placing the glass windows, i sealed the cabin and put filler around the gaps. i then put tape around the windows and sanded the filler.
This is how it looked like once completed.
Thank you for taking the time to see my project,
Hyder

GREAT WORK!
Does this kit give you the option of posing the generator vent doors in the open, running position?
I REALLY wish they would offer this vehicle in 1/35th! I truly do.
I have built 4-5 of these chassises in 1/35th, for both myself and for friends but to go under other variants. I hope one day I will get to build a chassis for this one!

Hi Micheal,
Trumpeter is coming out with a 1/35 S-300 Radar Very soon, so not to worry.

I must admit I am excited at that news!
(I know the launcher is already out.)
I realize the US and its' Allies have already gone up against these anti-incursion installations but it is impossible not to respect what the Russians have accomplished as well as the level of sophisticated technological integration they have achieved!
Besides they just look seriously cool! (Except for the white walls!)
I am already totally out of display shelf space for my models but when these two big boys hit the market I will have to have them!

Thanks to you I now know that the Flaplid radar unit is listed as "current" in the Trumpeter online catalog. And the Perth Military Modeling Site says it is scheduled for a November/December release date.
Santa I know what I want for Christmas!

I now have my advance order in for the Trumpeter 1/35th scale "Flaplid" offering when it hits the US market sometime in December! (Fingers Crossed)
