Looks like their WZ-111 prototype was closely related to the IS-3...According to the first link below (and to the Russian Wikipedia IS-3 article), they had 200 IS-3 heavy tanks at the end of the 50's

Thanks, Frenchy. I'd read about The Chinese having dug in JSs as bunkers along the Soviet border. Thinking of trying that wasn't sure if they had gotten any 3s before relations soured.

They got a few, but Im not sure the actual number, after the end of the Korean War.
