Hi to all of those who are in the know.
Trying to plan a diorama set in England c1940 and I am after a suitable 1/35th scale building. So I am after one that is easily available currently on the market.

Looking at photos I thought this one may be a possibility. Thoughts please.

I don’t think I’m in the know, but hi anyway. It depends what exactly you want to depict e.g. a blitz-damaged house or pristine backdrop to a pre-D-Day armoured column? I guess the Gasthof could be modified to a generic English house except it appears to be an end-of-terrace building so you’d presumably need to fabricate or duplicate next door too at least. Personally I’d only use & replicate its components to make a more recognisable English terrace – typically they’re only 2-storey in suburbia & beyond but there’s so much regional variation, take an image-search tour if you’re intending a specific location

Hi Rod.

As a Brit living in London (and often travelling around these isles) I feel I should be able to help.

I suppose the first question is: what story do you plan to tell with this diorama?

Is it a city, town or rural scene (I guess from your suggested building that it's one if the first two).

Do you want to show Blitz damage? Are you going for the 'stiff upper lip'?

I would say that many buildings can be made to look 'British 1940s' if you go for the right details: e.g. windows cris-crossed with tape, the appropriate signage, red post boxes, etc...

Let us know more and I'm sure we can help!

Regards,

Tim
