Okay I got a couple for you...first paint the while wheel O/D then just take some flat black paint and thin it down put the wheel down flat and just add your wash to the wheel it will find the side then paint the rubber part as usual...another trick I use is to weather the tires and rims painting them a dirt color usually tamiya's earth and dust from Tamiya's buff I then just dry brush the bottom of the tire where it touches the tracks with a dark greyish color and drybrush the od parts of the rim to my liking ..( I know that is cheating but hey look at most afv's the wheels are mostly covered in dust and dirt. hope this helps

the first thiung that you would do is find the color of the wheels. then you paint the outside of them, weather them as normal, then dont forget the rubber.

As you can see in the above photo, there is no clear, raised demarcation on the M109 roadwheel like on other AFVs such as a Bradley or M113. The rubber simply smoothes out and feathers into the rim. Italeri got it spot on.
