I planning on building a early Leopard 2 kit and the instructions call for a bronze green and say that FS 34102 med. green is a close match. I use mostly Tamiya paints and was wondering if anyone had a recipe for this color. Also is the German bronze green different that the British bronze green used on Centurions and Chieftains? Thanks.

Chris,

I'm afraid I cannot vouch for FS 34102 or any acrylic match; however, I can confirm that the colour is notably different form the British Army Deep Bronze Green, which apart from anything else was a high gloss paint.

I'm sure some acrylic paint users and modern armour cognoscenti will come to your aid shortly.

Tamiya XF-67 NATO green is a good start for Bronzegrün. Since Bronzegrün is significatly darker, you might add some XF-26. And I recommend XF-64 instead of XF-68.

Take note that there were no Leopard 2 tank on uni Bronzegrün. Early Leoprd 2 are painted in Gelboliv RAL 6031. Gelboliv vehicles had also differnt markings. So you have to specifiy first which color version you want to build.

Should read RAL 6014.
