Hello
I was wondering what the airbrushing community thought about these two flat finish varnishes, and which is the better.
Also, does anyone know where i can buy either of them from in the UK.
many thanks.

I have a bottle of model master (testors) dull cote and when I used it, I was very impressed. After using it twice the the lid inside seal came loose. When I went to use it again the whole bottle had clotted. I had a bottle of humbrol matt dull cote, that´I bought but never used, so I went with that. Excellent results since. So if your two choices are not easily available, I recommend the humbrol version, as it may be easier to get.
I have the humbrol matt tin as well, but its hard to ensure a flat finish as it needs so much stirring. The bottle I have is the same square shape as their little enamel bottles.
Give it a go ...

Lee,
I have both the Polyscale flat (acrylic) and the Testor's Dull Cote (lacquer) and like them both. However the consensus of opinion among the members of my IPMS chapter is that the PolyScale is flatter.
IMHO the Testor's lacquer gives a "harder" finish. If that makes any sense.........

Strictly an acrylics man here (I don't like the flammabilities and the odor of enamels/solvent based, and I love the soap and water clean-ups of acrylics) so, it is exclusively PollyScale Flat (and Gloss) for me. (No, I don't own/work the company.)

BUT sometimes, PS is a little too flat for my liking.....

I've never tried the PollyScale flat - but after hearing good comments - I think I'd like to give it a try.

I use the Poly Scale and it works great. I order all my paints from Testors about once or twice a year at their web site. http://www.testors.com/ Their shipping has always been very fast and their always in stock. Testors and Polly Scale are one in the same company.
