does anyone know if there are any companies out there that make a Combat Engineer Vehicle (CEV) model kit, preferably in 1/35?

Nope, Academy has teased us for a few years now saying they are coming out with one, but have not produced. The closest is the Academy M-60 w/dozer blade. You can convert one pretty easy. There was an article inFineScale Modeler Magazine a while back.
It was in the March of '95 issue. It gave scale drawings and a full build article of the vehicle. That is what I used for mine below.
It wasn't too difficult and comes out pretty good.

AEF of Colorado makes a turret conversion for the CEV. The donor kit is the Academy M60 with the M-9 Dozer Blade. The conversion provides the upper portion of the turret, demolition gun, A-frame boom. You need good references to fill in the really vague AEF instructions.
I completed mine last year, and really feel that for the amount of work, it made a fine model. It certainly was NOT a "walk in the park"!

M728 CEV is not the same as an M9 ACE.
Here is an M728 CEV:
This is an M9 ACE:
M9 is still in the inventory, unfortunately, M728 was phased out in the early 1990s. They are now mostly range targets and museum pieces. Too bad it was a good vehicle.

Yeah, they are scattered all over here at Fort Leonard Wood, and every time I drive past one I think "I wish I had a model of one of those"
