Working on Jeff Shiu's Chess 1915. Figures are sculped really fantastic. Pity the casting is 'Aliexpress'-quality (lots of flair, sprue remnants and flair ) but nothing that can't be fixed.
I decided to make the included bench with real wood and nails. Since the set is delivered without chess-pieces shapeway was once again helpfull with a 1/24 scale chess-set. I also found some 1/24 scale tankards because 'thinking makes thirsty. The chessboard will also be wood with a self printed decal for the 64-squars ( which are 1,5 mm each so a bit hard to paint )......

Although the set comes with a thin resin plate (that had a hole in it....) that can be used as chessboard I made one myself, using a very thin piece of veneer. Since (for me) it is impossible to paint 64 1,5 mmx1,5 mm squares (the board is 12 mm ) I made a decal.
The set comes with a small resin 'base' I had a better one in de sparebox with cobblestones. Today is nature day, looking for a nice twig that will serve as tree.

And...........we're playing chess !!!

Thanks for looking, keep you posted.

I added a selfmade box for the chess pieces that left the game and a small tobacco-tin since one of the figures is smoking a pipe. Ordered two beertankards (1/24) from a dollhouse store

Thanks for watching and feel free to comment.

Overall it looks very nice. My recommendation would be to make the chess board bigger, the size of the pieces is as large or larger then squares and at least for me throws things off.

Hi Ryan,,
I do agree and the thought crossed my mind. The chess pieces are 1/24 scale and the board is the same size as the small resin plate that came with the set....
I guess 1/24 isn't always 1/24.... making a bigger board might turn out too big for the figures but Im going to give it a try...
