Hello everyone. I am getting ready to start building an M1117 for the Trumpeter 5 campaign. Does anyone out there know where I can find photos of the following vehicle?
Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric- I assume you mean that specific ASV with the LRAD? I have seen a dark photo at one time, but cannot find yet. Still looking. (Where is Frenchy?) Also this 2010 thread on the LRAD used on M1117...

Stuart, I did mean that particular vehicle. I have the markings from Echelon but may not use them if I can't find a few photos. I might also go generic with plain Military Police markings if I can't find something interesting. Does anyone know if the overpaint of tan covers the entire underside of the vehicle?

Eric

The M1117 shown carries the markings of the 81st Brigade Combat Team. The 81st Brigade Combat Team is Headquartered in Seattle, but with units spread across the state, the 81st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) makes up nearly one half of the Washington Army National Guard, with 2,900 citizen soldiers from every community in Washington State filling their ranks. Perhaps you should check with the Washington National Guard for a photo. I suggest starting with the public affairs office. You can google this.

It does.
When Trumpeter first showed the sprues back in 2007 I noticed the underside looked nothing like what they were offering. Hence the photos which I sent to them in time to get the kit corrected, including the rough texturing on the upper surfaces, which I think they did a pretty good job on.

Robert, thank you for that photo.
Okay, last questions for now, is the glass a solid block or is it multiple layers spaced out like the kit depicts? I notice that Bronco also went the multi layer route on their MaxxPro. Does anyone have good photos of what looks like skid plates added to these vehicles? It might be an easy to add feature.

Eric

Yes. The website for the 81st has lots of photos, but not a good search function.
As mentioned Echelon D356103 1/35 81st Brigade Combat Team M1117 ASV Guardians in Iraq Decal
Also the time range...
The 81st Brigade was alerted for a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. It received its mobilization order on 19 March 2008 from the Department of Defense. The brigade completed pre-deployment training at Fort McCoy, WI and then deployed to Iraq from August 2008 to August 2009.[14] The main focus of the brigade in OIF was security and "force protection operations."

Specialist Samuel D. Stone, assigned to the Bremerton-based C Company, 1st Battalion, 303rd Cavalry, was in Tallil, Iraq, when the accident happened, according to the Washington Army National Guard. The incident was not a result of combat and an investigation, which is standard procedure, is under way. Tallil, where the unit is providing security, is about 190 miles southeast of Baghdad in southern Iraq.

Hello Eric,
Although this be may outside your particular interest, the manufacturers painted at least one (1) vehicle with a cartoon character of the "Hulk". You might find it by searching for it under Textron-Marine.
Respectfully,
Allen
