I have a new bottle of Tamiya clear X22 and want a satin not flat finish. How much Flat Base x21 should I add? I know that "satin" is subjective but I don't want to use half the bottle and a week to find the perfect ratio.

Hello Greg,
I see no-one replied to your question. As you say, all of this is subjective.
Here are my ratios when I mix Tamiya flat base with Future. You could use these ratios as a start to mixing flat base with Tamiya gloss.
Satin: 1 part flat base to 15 parts gloss
Flat: 1 part flat base to 10 parts gloss
Thanks,
Alex

Similar results with old-school Clear/Kleer/Future, if you can get it.
As always mix in a sealable pot & stir really well, then test, its easy to add one more drop to the mix...

Thanks guys. That is similar to what I remember. If you add too much of the flat base it will dry with a frosted effect. Of note, I called Tamiya to get the official word and after passing the phone back and forth, they said mix at a 1 to 1 ratio. I knew that was wrong when I heard that.
