Hi,

So I'm taking a second crack at the old heller AMX-VCI. it comes with a set of figures armed with MAS-49 rifles, AA-52 machine guns & MAT-49 SMGs. So probably a '60s era gear. Finding references for this period is really tough. What colors should I paint these (I don't trust Heller's instructions; my first attempt at this model had me paint it the wrong color)? I have easy access to Vallejo paints. Also what sort of squad organization did the French use during this period? I have the set of figures from the first attempt & may try for a full squad.

Damon.

Hello Damon, if you can find it (try Amazon, eBay or any used book seller) Osprey Elite Series #6, French Foreign Legion, should provide you with the information your looking for. Hope this helps you.

Plenty of info on the net. Search French 1960s. I have a number of books, probably the best is Blandfords army uniforms post 1945 or fighting men of the 20th century.
Both good as they cover so many countries and wars.
Both available via epublishing as pdf files. Or to read via libraries.
Private message me if you want scans etc.

References would mostly be in french, but there is no lack of pictures of the gear around on the net:
