I just received some AK fluid and want to MAYBE try. I've always primed my Fruils, then painted and wash/drybrush from there.

I've heard about the fluid not turning CA areas brown and saw someone on youtube using the fluid on the individual links (keeping them separate) for even coverage before assembly.

What are peoples general exp. with the fluid? Worth it or better to just keep painting like I have been? Just looked interesting I guess

It takes some prep work, you need to soak and scrub the the tracks with acetone to help the fluid work better. If you assemble, then you will need to make sure it works into all the crevices, the wire or pins will not burnish, they will need to be touched up.If done right, they do look nice.If you have the stuff, give it a try,the worse that can happen is that you need to overpaint them. Here is a set that I did.

Thought they came good but still had to touch them up a little.

If there is any grease/oil on the track it can lead to uneven coloring. Make sure there are no air bubbles because it will lead to a noncolored spot. The fluid loses its reaction fairly quickly right next to the metal so gently swirling it keeps fresh fluid next to the metal.
