in case you haven't heard yet, Ammo by MIG Is releasing a new product, labeled "solution box". the idea here is to give the entire experience of building a model from start to finish. the box has a kit, paints, weathering supplies and a step-by-step guide to achieve a very nice looking end result.
the reason im excited about this is, that the box gives you everything, without dumbing it down, like airfix or revel beginner kits. this one throws you in the deep waters, but makes sure you have the knowledge to swim. it doesn't hide the complicated side of the hobby, rather making it more accessible to new-comers.
it contains a tamiya m4 kit, paints, primer, weathering oils, and varnish.
there is, however, a minus: doesn't come with glue
i hope more kits like this will follow.
EDIT: read to the disappointing end

Kit's not included either. 84 euro for paint seems a little steep.

Heh heh.
It also doesn't include the putty or Evergreen stock needed to correct the glacis on the Tamiya M4.

hmmmm. Do you think they will fix that if we comment it a lot?

This would be great for beginners! The camo would be so good, you'd swear the kit isn't even there.

Although it is a good amount of money. it seems to have a total of 24 products, which makes an average of 3,5 euros per product -not bad. And you get the book also.
Considering that the box could last for 3-4 kits or more, it's an investment (if yo plan to build more similar models)

Not sure how I feel about the "plug and play" world we are living in today...

It is a ripoff.
What would be nice, would be to have the model included, the paint, glue, weathering products and a manual.
Also, another cool idea would be to customize the "Solution Box" altogether, based on the model, theatre, season (summer, winter etc.), include figures matching the scene etc. That would be insane. But it will never happen.

I'm fine with no kit. Pricewise for the amount of paints included it is alright but not some special savings opportunity -- but I've yet to see a paint set that was less than the sum of its invidual price per bottle.
Frankly, including a kit would prevent me from buying the set as I have no desire to build a Sherman, although I have no problem watching one used as an example in photos or videos. They can't really afford to lose potential sales because they picked a kit that didn't appeal across their customer base. That's just bad business.
