Making progress on the vehicle, but question about manning it.

I want to depict it leaving the battlefield carrying wounded. Would it simply be sealed up, or would some people be sticking their heads out? Also would flags or other indicators be displayed if it were carrying wounded?

I guess it depends on whether bullets are flying around or not.
