Ain't nothing like frankinstiening and putty. Usualy 2 sets of four figures gives me 4 stock and 3 or 4 diffetent trooers. Love it. Good SBS Jerry. Maybe we'll see some more figures on all the other grest builds. I used all 4 sets of dml's marines for my Tarawa dio. Mix and match with the ole #11, and as the magician said in the 60's. presto changeo.

Thanks Tim,I am still soldiering on with this one. Did a "test blocking" of colors. Found a bunch of blips and blings that need attention.
His dogs are barkin' though.

The upper portion is about done. I tried to show a sweat stain on his hat. Kinda iffy if I got that right.
Cringe worthy magnification once again.

He's not looking too bad at all!
I'm interested in the ACW figs. I have a CI CSS DAVID in 1/32 scale , trying to find Confederate sailors has been an ongoing chore. Numerous figs but many have the wrap around groundsheet like yours. Or they are in Dances w Wolves suicide pose' I have found enough and luckily found a set of naval heads so some of this type of work coming up for me.
Great stuff , love watching figs come alive!

Jerry I just found this sbs, sorry for the tardy arrival
This trooper turned out great, nicely done my friend. You nailed the overall pose btw, just sayin'...
I fully appreciate the subtle techniques employed here and there.
Thanks for sharing something tried and true that we all might have a go at it.
The pumpkin patch is a sweet touch too!
Cheers
Dave

Some 1/32 figs are smaller and some 1/35 figs are bigger so they blend well. Plus, all humans come in different sizes as well. Long as you use the same size gear in the same dio it all works.
100% correct!

Weren't Dragon's ACW figures 54mm, or 1/32?
I stand corrected, they are indeed 1/32. But what's your point? Is only 1/35 allowed here or something?

NICE GOING, JERRY!!!
THIS is the kind of thing that I LOVE DOING with a lot of my own figures!!!
You've captured the "tired and careworn" look of the "sojers" of the ACW VERY nicely!!! One of General Sherman's "Bummers", is he? I'll bet that he's craving a "drumstick" right about now...
LOVE the exposed toes! All too many figure modelers forget that many times, the Infantrymen of wars prior to the 20th Century wound up BAREFOOT, which might well have led to some pretty horrible consequences...
And the scraggly hair and goatee!!! Marvelous! The "bindle" is a very nice touch, too!!!

People would be surprised with what they could achieve by incorporating 1/32 figures with 1/35 figures and vice-versa- I do the above ALL THE TIME. I also like to re-sculpt, making them skinnier or fatter, as my imagination allows!!! VIVE la DIFFERENCE!!!

Hi, Fred!
(If I may call you "Fred", that is..)
The real trick to creating and painting figures is to have patience and not to give up-

Thanks as always for the very generous remarks buddy!
Yes,you should try to stress your boundaries and try new stuff. I am trying that with my next dio but it will be time consuming and I hope to keep my interest up.

Fred-what Dennis said! Ditto.
Dennis,
who man,you must've hit the coffee before all these posts! Heheheheh, but thanks a bunch man,I appreciate every last comment.
I went with the 'punkins because after living down south for almost a decade, the farmers told me down there the soil in most places is only good for cotton( for maybe 2 years) and then watermelons or pumpkins and sometimes 'backy.
I have always had huge respect for farmers and still do.
