The IDF received around 150 M48A5s (Magach 5) at the end of the '70s.

Well, speak of the devil, not Israeli, but it is an M48A5. More pics in the comment section.

Just shows that the M48A5 (and M60A1/A3, which it is basically upgraded to) are still very viable tanks. They may not be able to take on the latest generation of Russian tanks (T72, T90), but can be lethal against older generation tanks that are still in wide use in may parts of the world. I would contend that with a highly trained crew, they could still be lethal against T72s and T90s as well.

...not to mention Turkish M60T 'Sabras' (basically upgraded Magach 7s): with their 120mm gun, upgraded armor, suspension, FCS and various warning systems are still lethal beasts.

Don't care what you drive, a 105mm DU round will knock out most anything out there. Just upgrade the fire control systems. The powerplant is quite reliable. It is not the toughest tank out there but todays modern guns and rounds pretty much level the playing field.

The IDF did receive M48A5s but they were immediately upgraded with Blazer armour and other IDF improvements, so a stock M48A5 wouldn't really work

FYI
