Hi all!
I have Meng's Panther ausf. A late with type 2 zimmerit decals in my stash and I've been searching for references of late Panther As with mentioned zimmerit pattern. Am I correct if I assume that type 2 pattern is Daimler-Benz pattern or is it MNH, or both? In real life those two patterns were very similar, DB's a little bit rougher texture. I found one photo in Panther: External Appearance and Design Changes and it's the last ausf. A (Fgst. Nr. 152575) DB built in May '44. I have tried to look more photos of that vehicle, mainly to see the camo pattern(if I could) and were any field modifications done, other than debris guard over the gun mantle, but no luck so far. I would appreciate if someone has more info or photos of that Panther or another late A with correct zimmerit pattern.
All other tips are also welcome regarding Meng's kit.
Don't want to give up yet and buy sheet for M.A.N. pattern
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jukka, welcome to Armorama! I'm in the process of building the same kit with type 2 zimmerit pattern as a captured Russian tank.

The following books would be good reference material.
1 Panzer Tracts No. 5-2: Panzerkampfwagen “Panther” Ausfuehrung A
2 Germany’s Panther Tank: The Quest for Combat Supremacy
3 Panther: External Appearance and Design Changes
4 Feist Books: Panzerkampfwagen Panther
5 The Panther Project Vol 1: Drivetrain and Hull
6 The Panther Project Vol 2: Engine and Turret
Reference 3 provides the best description, with pictures, of the zimmerit applied by each of the factories. I haven't seen the MENG decal sets, so I can't speak to what is meant by Type 2. Since none of the references mention such a thing as Type 1, Type 2, etc.. as a description of the zimmerit applied at the factories.
One thing to be aware of is that the placement of the Balkenkreuz was unique to each factory. Most kits only show placement applicable to MAN produced vehicles.

Thanks for replies.
I have books 1 and 3 and used the latter to determine what Meng's zimmerit type 2 is in reality. To my knowledge it's either Daimler-Benz or MNH pattern. Can someone with better knowledge confirm this?
Panther Project books are on my shopping list, but they are about early ausf. A built by Demag.
What comes to type 2 pattern... Meng offers four different zimmerit decals for ausf. A late and they have named them type 1 -4. I'm not sure what those other 3 patterns are, haven't checked them yet.
As I said in my opening post I found photo of knocked out Panther of I./Pz.Rgt.29 in Panther: External Appearance and Design Changes and would like to know more about Panthers of that unit, markings, camo patterns, field modifications and so on.
