Has anybody had any problems getting Acrylic paint shipped in the winter?
I have a good deal coming in, was wondering if they will freeze well I know they are by now coming from NH, to OK, but will it harm paint,never worried before,but usually bought local, but most have shut down so mail order it is. All Vallejo acrylics a good bunch of their washes.

They would mot probably be OK. Once they are delivered I wouldn't let them sit out in the cold too long if the temperature is below freezing.

Don't think you would have a problem,I'm sure that the manufacturer,supplier,and shops ship them anytime of year.

While in most cases it should be ok, but living in Canada, I have seen Vallejo paint shipped to a store during the winter gone bad, it solidifies after it thaws. And I have also experienced some Stylnrez primer that froze during shipping and was useless after thawing, it became just a big blob in the bottle.

When it gets real cold, I will not order acrylic paint, I have also heard from a couple of store owners that are leary about having acrylic paint shipped during extreme cold periods.

I agree with Kevin. Here in Winnipeg which routinely hits -30C in winters I have even seen Tamiya ruined by freezing . . . . left a bottle in the car for a couple of hours. So I too never mail order acrylics in the winter.

As I stated earlier as long as the paint is not exposed to sub freezing temperatures for an extended period it should be OK. Once the paint freezes then all bets are off. So as long as you can get the paint indoors before it freezes it should be OK. Do a test. Take a partially empty bottle that you have and set it outside to see how long it takes to freeze and what happens when it thaws.

My thinking also, that North Atlantic can be cold.

Darned good question Jeff ! I've often wondered about it myself. Fortunately I can get most of the colors I need locally, for now...
Here in Milwaukee the past few days the temps have been in the minus 20's F ! So cold that the latex paint on the exterior doors has flaked off in big pieces. Never saw that before !
I did get a lot of hours at the bench these past few days.
Anyway, I'm getting never had paint shipped during the cold months.
