Seeking guidance from the more knowledgeable than I .
I am currently building Legend's Full Resin Israeli Puma. It has the Centurion Suspension and road wheels in the kit, however I am aware the these components were replaced with those of the Merkava 2 on the Puma.
So, my questions
1) Did the early PUMA's ever use the Centurion running gear?
2) If not, were the Merkava road wheels used on the Puma the same as the earlier Mk 1 and Mk 1 Hybrid? I am considering casting up replacements from the Takom Mk 1 Hybrid kit I have, or possibly even sourcing an old Tamiya Merkava kit to scavenge from.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

AFAIK, yes. The first Pumas (entered service in the late '80s) retained the power train and running gear of the Sho't Kal. Later models received engine, transmission, running gear and tracks those of the Merkava.

I've seen photos of Pumas with a mix of Merk and Cent wheels.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll proceed with the kit parts then.
Thanks for the offer Robert. Postage from US to Oz is a bit on the steep side plus there is the issue of getting you the funds to reimburse you for it. I really appreciate the generosity though.

Initially the Cent wheels were replaced with Merkava ones. They used essentially the same hub. Later the entire suspension was replaced. Batash tracks were fitted later, but IIRC they needed a sprocket change as the link pitch was different.
Mixed Cent and Merkava wheels were not uncommon, despite being different diameters. Also mixed types of Merkava wheels: steel and rubber rimmed.
