I'm, going to see if I can have Robin the Mod attach a basic photo of a couple of figures I painted. It's my first real attempt so I certainly understand there is HUGE room for improvement. But now that I have the basics painted and sealed (except for the eyes ….. may want to just use washes to simulate ….), wondered what colors of filters/washes work best with a basic Italian North Africa figure?

Ok so I "tried to do two tiny black dots near the top middle of the eyes. Wow - that really ruined the look anyway, touched up and now just wondering if anyone can suggest any other clever techniques to simulate a pupil without risking the stare haha

I have those Archer irises but not sure I want to go that route.

What do you guys do when you mess up something like that on the eyes?

Thanks in advance for the advice guys - I ordered a bunch of Alpine, Model Victoria & Masterbox plastic to really work on this piece of it. Even seeing these two unweathered/detailed next to my Semovente just brings it all together

You could try a .05 artist's pen - they come in various colors - to make tiny dots for eyes.

That should read ".005 artist's pen". Pens like that are available in artist's supply shops - there are various brands. They look like extremely fine-tip markers. Even if the pen says "waterproof", or "permanent ink", make your eyeballs the last item on the figure, or seal well first, otherwise the ink might smudge and run with any other paints/solvents. In 1/35, black will suffice, but you could also try brown, blue, or green, according to taste. You can also draw eyebrows, and other details with artist's pens.

When looking at the Officer's photo, it appears that the fabric around knee height is torn.

Might have been a camera issue but I'm somewhat satisfied with my first figure attempt. I could use plenty of advice from you guys and would welcome it gladly.

It's amazing how the Samsung S9 (when I zoom in on pics I take ) can show things my 45 year old eyes could never pick up.

Thanks but have light years to go still. I recived the .05mm and a .03mm copic marker in black and sepia. Might try those on the next test subjects.
