I think someone has fallen prey to the auto-correct monster:

The headline should read "Slavia Engine and Wicker Baskets" and not Stable Engine.
That is about a 5 h.p. single cylinder Slavia diesel engine.

(I suspect the error was actually made at Plus Models when they submitted the copy and photo for the announcement.)

Here is a YouTube video of the engine in operation:

The guy who posted the video below calls it "stable engine" ("Stabilný motor" in Slovak )...

I guess "stationary engine" would be a better match.

I can only suppose by that he is meaning a "Farm Engine" or a "Stationary Engine" and the problem is probably one of translation as much as anything else. I also saw several photos where it was referred to as a "Stability Engine".

Clearly the engine in question was built by the company "Slavia" as was the one in the video you listed.

As you know this type of light engine was commonly used around the farm in the early part of the 20th century. Grinding wheat into flour, moving grain to the top of a storage silo, separating corn from the stalks, etc. I have even seen similar but smaller engines running an ice cream churn.

Grinding wheat into flour.

Separating corn stalks from the ears.

Thanks Mike.

I've sent Plusmodel a message requesting for clarification, or better if they can respond directly to this post. Let's see.

Cheers,

Tat
