Part one of my article is now online - I compared five 1/35 scale Abrams kits: Tamiya M1A2, Italeri M1A2, Dragon M1A1, Academy M1A1 and Trumpeter M1A1.

More parts will be added in coming days - I expect this article to be quite big. Part one deals with tracks, wheels, suspension and basic hull parts. Part two will deal with various hull detail parts and side skirts.

Some real surprises in the article. For example: Did you know that Italeri M1A2 kit released last year was based on old Trumpeter molds?... The proof is in my article!

Please visit Vodnik's Place - the article is in Features section.

Any comments welcome!

Cheers,
Pawel

PS: "the great" in the subject is related to the size of the article, not its quality. I leave it to you to decide if it is worth anything.

This feature has the makings of yet another superb, well researched, and finally, an unbiased article on choosing the best 1/35 Abrams...I truly admire you, Sir Vodnik!

Like your amazing article about the Bradley, this article (once completed) should be destined to go down into the annals of plastic modelling - something that armor fans should seriously look into.

YOU ROCK!!!

I just updated the article with eleven photos and some additional text - but it is still only part one. I will start to take photos for part two tomorrow if I find some time.

Cheers,
Pawel

what i have to say is that every article from you i read is written in the exact way that i wanted to be. And i also admit that i print them so i have them at hand on bench while working on specific projects. The bigfoot superdetailing i sthe last i printed and am going to use on building. The Abrams project i believe that will be the best so far. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your time for researching and writting

Thank you a bunch Pawel, see the banner in you signature, I lost that on my computer after that mishap, when I was supposed to get that protection from viruses, but instead what I got was I lost all the signatures and key funtions to this site from my computer
It doesn't show anybody's signatures anymore, it used to, but until I can find a way to correct it I'm stuck without this. Sorry for the inconvenience of hafting to put a hot link, I got your site marked now so hopefully this won't haft to be done again.

Just finished building the Dragon kit (with mine plow) for the M-1 campaign. Wasn't too thrilled withi it. Didn't really like the sectional/pieces of track, would have preferred the vinyl in this case. Thought the turret wento together well other than the gun tube mounting pieces. Hull was easy and the mine plow was a bit confusing in the diagram, but once you started actually assemblying it, it went together fairly simply. Not a big fan of the M-1 would much rather build a good old M-60 series,
