Agree Bill. Nice to see some vehicle releases that are not already over subscribed by other manufacturers. There is obviously a market for "what if's"; the Panthers will appeal to some and the 'Badger' might have more appeal to WoT devotees, but for me, I would have preferred to see a FV222 ARV on the Conqueror hull - something actually built and used - and definitely not already available in plastic from another manufacturer.

Well, I quite like the Conqueror derivative but "Badger"? Is that a World of Tanks thing? My ancient AFV Profile lists the planned equipment for 1951 as "SP 120mm Medium Anti-Tank No 1", though of course it never came to fruition.
However, it all seems logical due to the Soviet heavy threat ie get as many 120mm guns into service as possible and a Jagdpanzer type SP would be cheaper than a turreted tank.
I might just have to get one of these. Well done Amusing Hobby just for ringing the changes.

I still don't see the draw of "Paper Panzers." There are so many vehicles that were actually built and saw combat that have not been kitted yet. I would much rather see them than a bunch of vehicles that never went past the drawing board stage. To each their own though.

I like building what-if because I save myself the time of research. Plus I can do whatever I feel like to wwith the camo, stowage etc. This is the biggest advantage of what if kits.
Amusing hobby Conqueror kits are a pleasure to build, especially their Conqueror MkII is ay better than their previous releases. anted to get a Badger, as about to get a resin conversion for the Super Conqueror kit but Amusing Hobby came to the rescue!!

Interesting that the Panther II is fitted with the very Schuerzen whose introduction was the reason why the project was discontinued...
And a made up turret whose design defies logic, in that it limits depression by having the rear sloping roof in the way of the breech ring.

I agree with Rob in that the turret defies logic or utility. Otherwise I don't really have much of an opinion having little use personally for Paper Projects. I've got more than enough REAL vehicles to build as it is.

Actually, the turret shown in the Panther II illustration is not fictional--it is the rejected first proposal for the Schmalturm. The roof was arched to accommodate the stereoscopic range finder. The height at the rear was the same as the standard Panther turret, and did not restrict elevation.
The fiction is installing it on a Panther II, as that tank was scheduled to have a slightly modified Panther turret, lengthened to allow the thicker armor base. This turret was never designed in detail, due to the project's early cancellation. The Rheinmetall Schmalturm was unrelated, but could have been installed on a Panther II, hypothetically, if both projects had proceeded, so the model is a double "what-if.".
