Hoping those in the know can clear this up for me.
Working through Dragon kit 3535 and they include what looks like 2 GPS antenna, one mounted on the BFT housing http://www.mheaust.com.au/Aust/Walkaround/Abrams/DSCF2502.jpg and one mounted on the access plate in front of the wind sensor http://data4.primeportal.net/tanks/jeff_derosa/m1a1_details/images/m1a1_details_073_of_435.jpg
Am I correct in thinking the one mounted by the wind sensor is used if the particular vehicle mounts EPLRS vise BFT or am I mis understanding the setup completely? Photos of my subject vehicle aren't clear on this.
Thanks,
Sean

You are correct in your assumption.

Thanks Gino, now to remove the one that doesn't belong.

Follow up question time. In a unit that uses BFT would every vehicle be so equipped or only platoon leader vehicles or the like ?

Sean,
iIs another "depends on the timeframe answer..." Initially, BFT went to the leader's vehicles, then to the other vehicles as the supply of BFT became more available. To add to Gino's answer above, the GPS antenna AKA puck was present on any tank that had a GPS kit installed, not only EPLARS equipped tanks. The military GPS was widely fielded in the mid 90's and most vehicles had the receivers as well as fixed antenna kits installed.
