Do any of you guys know how to make bolt heads in 1/35, not using aftermarket kits?

I use Plastruct Hexagonal Rod
It costs about $1.50 U.S. dollars and you get enough to make hundreds of bolts.

A lot of the newer Eduard photoetch sets come with several hex shaped holes. All you do is heat a piece of sprue and squish it through the hole.

Very interesting, didn't know that was available. Is this something they offer separately? How are the results?

They are a series of holes along the outer border of the actual PE fret. The part that would normally be discarded. I have not tried them yet since I have a plethora of Grandt line bolt heads and a set of Legend Productions Rivet set (LF1040).

Additionally, Academy began molding bolt heads on the sprues of the M3 and M3A1 Stuart tanks. Again, on a piece that would normally be discarded. Just shave them off and affix with your glue of choice. A real neat trend that they have started.

I blieve there is a company called Greif or Grief (sp?) that manufactures a small piece of steel with various sized bolt hole in it. Simply take some scrap sprue, heat and moosh it in the hole. I have one and Made somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 bolt heads one day in about 2 hours while watching TV. I put them in a plastic zip lock baggy and save for future projects. The Plastruct Hex rod is also a great reccomendation. HTH "Q"
