Hey Everyone,

This is a previous diorama I made. It features a Trumpeter Char 1 Bis that has been modified to look destroyed. The figures are from Caesar's miniatures and CP Miniatures. The Trumpeter kit is great to put together, although it offers no open hatches, so everything had to be cut and modified to accommodate some of my ideas. The rubber tracks are less than desirable, but I made due with them.

Two areas that I am not super content with. First, the driver's vision port did not exist on this model. So I tried to cut it out but slipped with my rotary tool and made a mess. Not happy with that outcome... Secondly, the decals didn't work as well as I wanted them to.

Other than that, this was a blast to build.

Here is the photo that partially inspired this build.

Dane,

Good story depicted here. Good action. Your scenery is impressive, too.

Well done.

I wish I could work in 1/72. I cant reach this standard in 1/35. This is a cracking little dio with great composition and really good use of colour.

Impressive details, painting & groundwork! I really like how the shape & contours of the base helps to show what's going on in the scene. Very creative!

Thank you Paul. I will say that it's sometimes hard to switch between 1/72 and 1/35 if you are used to scratchbuilding parts of making dioramas. That being said, it's essentially the same process, on a smaller scale, and with less paint. You can sometimes even fudge some of the details.

Hi Dane,

This is a great piece of work. In fact, given the scale, really exceptional.

The whole setting and movement is really very realistic.

If the driver's visor didn't quite work as you liked, why not convert it into another shell hit? These tanks often took quite a pounding before they were knocked out.

If you don't mind, I have only one tiny criticism. The foliage is beautifully done, but there are a couple of long sprigs of grass at the front of the diorama that just look too long... why not just give them a trim?

But, as I say, Bravo!
