Hey guys,
My son is building this very old kit. We need to upgrade the tracks, are these 38cm or 40cm?
Or are the sprockets some weird size because of the old tamiya r/c deal?

The real vehicle had the "40cm" tracks. 40cm is actually the track pin dimension, not for the links. I used a set of Friulmodel links, ATL-27, for my recent build.

I have the ATL-83 and they didn't fit the sprockets. So the ATL-27 fit your old old tamiya sprockets?

If your ATL-83 set doesn't fit, then ATL-27 probably won't either. I haven't run into any issues in the past with fitting Friulmodel tracks to any Tamiya kit.

The sprocket has oversized teeth for motorization and the kit tracks have enlarged holes.
There is the Academy Pzkpfw IV track set with sprockets made for their old copy of the Tamiya motorized Pzkpfw IV series.
Or file down the sprocket. I did so on the Pzkpfw IV D which has the same quite wrong tracks and that to fit Italeri vinyl track.
Modelkasten used to made replacement sprockets too.

Hello,
the Academy PzIV track kit is made for this model (or actually the very old Academy copy of this chassis). I used this set without problems on my L/70 including the sprocket wheels. Look around, this set should be very cheaply available if it is still there.
