An invaluable asset that everyone interested in a particular vehicle would need. That being said the price on this series has become so outrageous that I, for one, expect them to be hard-cover or spiral-bound. As it is I usually pick up what I need at used book stores as I'd rather pay out on the kit than the references.

Not sure where have you seen it, but at their site it sells for 30 euros plus shipping:

From top of my mind, this price is in line with other books from Panzer Tracts or Panzer Wrecks series and personally I would not define it as "outrageous". However, I understand that whether something is expensive or not is a personal perception affected by many variables, that is why I tend to avoid any mention of price on a review.
