I seem to recall someone asking whether or not the "big foot" tires on the 900 series 5 tons and the M35A3 deuce and a half were the same. (CRS, don't know who at which site asked). I checked the other day and the 900 series 5 ton tires are bigger. I also checked the new FMTV 5 ton and deuces, and their tires and wheels differ from both the 900 series and the M35A3. Of course the 5 ton and 2 1/2 ton FMTV tires are identical though.
Just in case any of you truck guys were interested.

Rob,
remember my remark about standardizing equipment. You've got all this billions to spend, the best equipment you can dream of... but I still feel you could gain loaaaaaaads of money if those manufacturers would compare notes on some issues

Thanks Sabot that was me that asked. One question though, are they close enough I could get away with using them on a 1/35 scale M35? Thanks

For the FMTV and 900 series 5 ton, yes. The M35A3 and 900 series 5 ton, maybe. I will take a photo of the two in close proximity and let you decide. It looks too small, but may not be all that different in 1/35.

What you running on them trucks Rob 24.5 or 22.5 tires low pros? In civilian world we used 24.5 on heavy duty stuff heavy hauls 6000 gallons of oil but over the years as tires have gotten better switched over to 22.5 low profile tires saves a few hundred pounds have to change hubs over which is where the weight saving is. I don't remember the size on them military ones even after all the tires I did change . But we did run some 17" on the real heavy haulers say over 150,000 pounds movers of the big machines like big *ss boliers and cranes. Just thought I would stick my mechanic brackground in. Oh by the way did Uncle Sam ever get rid of them split rims?

Off-hand, I don't recall the tire size, sounds like you are referring to the old type tires where the old Jeep tire looked like a little deuce tire, looked like a little 5 ton tire. The military still requires split rim wheels. That way you can replace the tire off the rim without the use of a machine.
