My new dio will feature this cool little tank I always thought was the sleekest of the WWII British armor.
It will try to be a reasonable facsimile of a tank from the 2nd Northants Yoemanry, the recon Regt for the 11th Armored Div. during Normandy. A shortlived campaign since the Regt was broken up in August that year after heavy loses.

I made the slight mods to the engine deck to show the mark used during Normandy

Modified the Tamiya fig from the kit

The crew has just gotten the order to advance to the Odon River and are buttoning up.

work on stowage and the dreaded Friuls begins

Friuls done and running gear modified to fit terrain.

More stowage done

Painted up my guy and built a rack for extra gas cans from Bronco.

In position.

Corrected color of overalls.

Major from the staff of the brigade commanded by Brig. Rosco Harvey. Miniart fig with Hornet head.

Painted up.

stowage painted up,etc.

Adding layers of dirt, dust and mud. These were pretty new tanks and this Regt had just arrived in country 2 days before this Op. so not much chipping and no rust.

Pretty big post all at once, sorry.

I'm enjoying this. I too think the Cromwell is a nifty little tank, warts and all, and Tamiya's kit is a sweet one too.

After the mud was added to the treads I could then attach hull to bottom and make sure the radioman was added beforehand.
You had to be a contortionist to close that weird hatch.

The officers stand by,doing what officers do.

Thanks for looking. I think I am finally getting some traction on this dio after a break.

Crommy is about wrapped up. Some more weathering and mud/dirt will be added once I affix it to the base.
Regular tank builders have mercy on me. Building this has made me more appreciative of your talents.

Moving on to the groundwork!
