Hello,
So, I am thinking about building the Trumpeter 1/16 M16 kit. My concern is with the tracks, as others have said they are very stiff and hard to use. I am thinking of two options to overcome this:

1. As I saw in a modelling magazine, a guy made up his own tracks with evergreen strip. Would be repetitive and time consuming but simple enough I guess.

2. Wondering if I made up a jig out of wood in the shape of the running gear, placed the kit tracks around this, then submerged it in boiling water to better help them keep the desired shape. Do you reckon this would work? Has anyone out there tried it before?

I have looked but cant find any aftermarket items to replace the kit's tracks.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Malcolm

I had this kit at one time, I never finished it as the tracks are almost impossible to do without a lot of work.
In my opinion the kit is to toy like for me, but I have seen it built up to Museum Quality.
If you haven't already purchased it I would say DON'T
Just my opinion

Not a problem for me.Perhaps, softening the kit track in warm water?

Hi Donald, thanks for your reply. I have owned it for years unfortunately(?). I have enjoyed your work on the big scale stuff very much, thank you for doing all of that. I think I might try boiling water anyway.
