I would like to start a new project to depict a Panther with wounded crews from 26th Panzer Div from battle of Anzio in Italy.

My problem is based on what I read from the book "Sicily - Salerno - Anzio, January 1943-June 1944". The 26th Panzer Division is withdrawn from Anzio front from 4th March.

I already started painting the figures for the diorama.

I picked up figures as below:

However, early March is still pretty cold in Italy.

Below is an example that they were still wearing overcoat.

So my question would be:

Did I pick up the right figure?
Did 26th Panzer Div participate any fight in between Mar-Jun 1944?

Panzer Regiment 4 was still an independent unit during the Anzio battles.
I'd delete the figure with the camo smock, otherwise you're figures are fine.

What Panther kit will you use?

Takom Panther A early type.

Is there anything wrong with the Camo guy?

If Regiment 4 was still an independent unit, what about their uni insignia?

Nothing wrong with the camo guy. The camo smocks were rare and I've never seen a pic of one in Italy, that's all.
Most Panthers didn't carry unit insignia, neither did PR 4. How will you do the zimmerit?

Re: Italian campaign, I often see paratroopers with Camo, but not Heer personnel. Is there any record showing Heer units were using Camo smock?

Also re: the figure, do they dress more like in Spring or Autumn?

For zimmerit, I guess it would be the old school Putty Texturing with some "peel-off" effects.

I used this zimm rake, as used in the Osprey Panther modelling book by Steve van Beveren, with great succes. For the small square pattern by MNH/ DB, the teeth should be 2,5 mm apart. I used a green scouring sponge to add roughness to the zimm.

Does anyone know if these two below were commonly seen in Italy 1944?
