I have been watching the old 1976 Saturday morning children's television series "Ark II" which is set in an apocalyptic future. I remember watching it as a kid but didn't remember what any of the episodes were about. Last night I watched the episode titled "Tank". An interesting little Hollywood created tank was shown and I thought I would share some pictures of it with everyone.
The barrel had a plant growing out of it. That was pointed out by one of the characters to show that the gun wouldn't work since the tank was a relic of the past.
The whole roof also served as a hatch. Here it is being opened.
Another scene with the hatch being opened.
Final scene and the tank being used as a tractor to pull a plow.
Hope you enjoy them.
Thanks,
Randy

Cute little thing. I suspect it is one the Combat Cars developed in the US during the late 1930's using tracks that were later used on the M3/M5 half tracks. I think this one was used in several movies in the '40's. It must have been fun to drive around.

The running gear reminds me of the one of the 1938 Marmon-Herrington CTL-3A light tank :
EDIT : just found this :
from http://www.mapleleafup.nl/marmonherrington/ctl-3.html
Two more recent views of the tank above, on display at the American Military History Museum in South El Monte, California :
Don't know if this one is the same at a different time and place :

Someday the Martians are going to invade Earth, and Frenchy will post pictures of the vehicles they used last time in 1938, and Gino will explain the differences between them and what aftermarket parts you need to model them...

Randy, you're getting me reminiscing about the past by posting about ARK II... Watched it as a kid as well. Cool vehicle too.

I never heard of the program, probably because by 1976 I was an Officer serving in Germany--can you folks enlighten me on this TV program and why it features what looks like a heavily re-constructed M1 Combat Combat car or a prototype light tank of some sort?

I think this little tank has been in quite a few TV shows.

Thank you for all of the replies and links everyone. I was surprised by the amount of interest shown. Too bad they can't put the same amount of effort into restoring it as they did in dressing it up for different movies and TV shows.
Hi Pat. A guy I work with is only a year older than me so we talk a lot about things from our youth such as tv shows and movies and "Ark II" came up. So I started watching the series again on YouTube and that's when I saw the Tank episode.
Thanks to the link provided by Frenchy I went and found the same tank being used in the "No Man's Land" episode of the 1993 TV series "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." and decided to show some pictures of it from that show as well. In addition to having a turret added it also has smoke stacks added to make it look like it is steam driven and it is pulling a wagon.
Enjoy
Thanks again everyone,
Randy
