Several, possibly many years ago, I posted the question as to whether or not the M46 ever saw service in USAREUR - I had - and still have the venerable Dragon kit in my stash - and as my intent is to portray kit from the Cold War am still interested if this vehicle was ever based in Germany.

I realise this is probably a gross hijacking of the thread but just wondered whether or not any further intelligence had come to light.

Needless to say, my Dragon M46 is still unbuilt!

The M46 did serve in USAEUR. I read that they arrived there first with the M26 being stuck in Korea.

It was brief though as the M47 started arriving in 1952. But full replacement wasn't overnight.

Thank you for sharing all that information, Jason! I've been waiting impatiently for the release of this kit - can't wait to get my hands on it! Still not seeing it at my usual online hobby suppliers.

Nice work. I found it interesting that Takom molded the two exhausts on the back deck as a solid piece where dragon opened it up. I'll post a pic later to show what I meant

I just received my Takom M46 kit and figured I would share some of the sprue shots.

Observations: Nice cast texture, offers link and length T80E1 AND T84E1 tracks. Markings for 9 Korean War tanks, both Army and USMC. No PE. Kit includes the mount over the TC site for the .50 that some tanks had but no .30 cal gun for the original mount, which some had . The cupola is molded with the turret and the periscopes are solid plastic instead of clear. 2 barrels included- 1 slide molded one for tanks without the mantlet cover and a 2-piece barrel for the tanks with the mantlet cover- the canvas is molded as part of the barrel.

You can see it in the sprue pictures. Each muffler and exhaust pipe is one solid piece. In this age of slide molding they didn't even mold the pipes as separate tubes. Wow. But I really like the shape on the canvas covered barrel.
