I have read good things about Mission paints but not yet seen or heard how it chips.
Has anyone had ago?

I havent gone to extremes of chipping with MM paint yet, but works great for both, painted on chipping and hairspray method.

I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the video I linked. But Mr. Rinaldi has stated in other videos that MMP can be chipped without the use of hairspray and just water as long as it is done within a day or two after applying the paint. I tried this and it does work as he describes. If you want longer working time over several days/weeks then he advises using hairspray. HTH

I think it's a bit nuanced in terms of the type of chippimg you want to achieve with MMP. The paint rubs off with rubbing motion and is great for doing fading effects - Rinaldi did a few of those in his TA books. To do more like the traditional chipping as in pieces coming off, HS is still the better option. Anyway I like MMP primarily due to its chipping properties.

Nope, even if im too enthusiastic with washes, i can rub off MM paint with brush to the plastic. If i do the same with Vallejo - its clumps and steps.
You can chip off some top coat and reveal color bellow without hairspray, but i have found i get more control with it. Or, if base coat has been coated with varnish already, its also quite controllable and fun to do.
And yes, time helps a lot as well. The fresher the layer to be chipped - the easier, and the older is the base coat - the better.
