Well, I'm "resurrecting" this post just to see what happens.

OK, I'll bite. Just what do you think is *going* to happen as a result of re-animating this thread? Are you hoping more people post that they've seen nothing definite?

No Kurt, just the opposite--I'm looking for an answer, which it appears I've gotten-- from Stephane an Julian above, who say they have seen the RFM FB announcement that the kit will be released in August. In my circumstance, the timing of kit releases often means the difference in my being able to obtain specific kits through my LHS, which is my preferred method, (even though local means a 30 mile drive). I've been waiting for a correct M551A1 for many years now, and in my neck of the woods, if I don't get the kit when it's first released, I may not get another chance. The Bronco M19 was another kit that came and went, and I was not able to get one (try and get one now in fact). I finally did manage to get one, but it took extraordinary effort.

Thank you Stephane and Julian for the only useful “non-snarky” replies. So if August is the expected release date from their FB page (I don’t do FB), I guess we’ll expect to see it in the States sometime before Xmas 2019. At least that’s something to look forward to.

×××××

I like the fact it's a Desert Storm version - this gives the Tamiya Nam version a good market as well as their own.

RFM Sheridan is supposed to do either one
Glt

That means I get to build TWO of them!!! In 2024...

Would that be before or after building the M8 HMC?
Curious mind wants to know ....
Cheers / Robin

Do you mean the "proper" M8 HMC IN PLASTIC which is NEVER going to happen in my lifetime..?

In other words, not much more than you had before, an announcement.

Instead of asking everyone to do your search work for you which will stop getting results sooner rather than later, you ought to just join Facebook. You don't need to give them much, and what you do give can be fake, like a birthday off by a year and a month. (They just want to make sure you are over 18/21.) Then you can follow all the companies you like and get the news you want, without looking like an ostrich with his head in the sand but always with a hand (wing?) out begging others. I joined after a long resistance and have had no problems. There are several model related groups I've joined and they generally keep things close to the topic.

It does take some self-control, such as not accepting friend requests (to avoid getting bombarded with all your "friend's" stupid posts and comments) and not reacting to the idiotic, incendiary, crap that you read. Most people can't exercise even that minimum amount of self-discipline, so if you recognize that in yourself, you are right to stay away.

Russ,
As you mentioned, I also saw the recent "update" regarding the Desert Storm version of the RFM Sheridan. And like most, it's become a case of "believing when I'm seeing it". I am also in the holding pattern regarding the Nike Hercules missile that was announced either in 2018 o 2017. And yes, I'll "bump" the thread in order to maybe, just possibly, gain the attention of someone with more recent knowledge of the subject. Almost universally, there will be a response from somewhere in the world from a person with that bit of information that can inspire me to keep waiting or to move along. We all have a similar experience for one release or another.

Asking for input from Armorama members should bring constructive responses. Anyone with access to the internet has by this time already decided whether to utilize FB or not; lots of opportunity for good as well as not-so-good stuff from there. I don't judge anyone by whether they use it or not. After all, we use this site as our means of communicating with like-minded modelers, right? And it's not FB, although sometimes members may treat it as such.

As for the Facebook pages from the manufacturer, yes, I visit once in a while for news on the Sheridans, but frequently it seems that there will be no updates at all, other than yet another Tiger, Panther, Berge, etc release that apparently has a higher release value than the Sheridan which has been in the wings for years. And yes, this will continue to happen, so while I wait, I finish something else in the "pending" pile of kits in my stash. It'll happen, hang in there!

What?!? There are 25+ for sale on Ebay, ranging from $49 to $84. Scalehobbyist has them in stock, as does Lengends Toys and Hobbies.

Lemme guess, in addition to Facebook, you don't "do" Ebay, you don't "do" foreign sales, you don't "do" online US shops, you don't "do" paypal, and you don't "do" google. Under those conditions, yeah, I guess it would take extraordinary effort to find one.

Your troubles are of your own making. Try as one might, it's hard to be sympathetic.

Thanks Jim. I feel the same. I have my own reasons for not using FB, and prefer to keep it that way, but a big part of it has to do with unnecessary "clutter" and gossipy "chatter". Very occasionally, I do ask modeling related questions here on Armorama and Kitmaker, since this is supposed to be a modeling website. I don't think asking if anyone has heard of a release date for an item is out of the norm on a modeling website. However, I've noticed lately on Armorama in particular, answers and comments seem to have less to do with the posted subject than they do with egos. FB has a lot of the same qualities. It's strange you can ask the same question over on Aeroscale or Model Shipways about a different kit, and get a totally different response.
Very Respectfully,
Russ

And people begin passing by saying, "Oh boy, there's that guy again. Give a rest already" and even the kindest folks are driven to respond with "Here, let me google that for you" before they stop responding altogether.

I don't judge people on whether they use it. I judge people on how they they ask others to do their research for them, and whether their inability to help themselves is as result of a lack of knowledge or skill or just stubbornness and spite.

"I know how to get what I want but don't want to go to the trouble. Would someone get it for me?" does not seem like a good way to get help from others.

I'll agree with some of the above. I signed up on FB back in 2007, and I lasted about a week. I ran out of patience, so I left. I don't like FB at all, so I stay away from it, period. There is enough crap on-line as it is for me, so I have to tolerate it in order to just get some "basic news"...

Kurt, I'm not asking for your sympathy. I'm asking for your civility. My question was an easy one, and two other posters adequately answered it, you've added nothing constructive to the posted topic. But ok, "l'll bite" to put it in your words. Although the way I procure kits for my hobby is really none of your business, I did order my Bronco M19 through Amazon, receiving it after a six week wait from Hong Kong. At the time, there were none to be had on Ebay, HLJ, and there were none to be had in US on-line shops (still aren't to my knowledge, but I could be wrong). I choose not to pay for exorbitant postage (which is often what happens with Ebay). I do use US on-line shops, and have several dependable favorites, but I prefer to give my LHS a chance when I can. RFM has been pretty good about their release timelines with most of their kits, but not with this one for some reason. Generally you offer good information on certain topics and I appreciate that, but not on this one. And yes, this kind of exchange is one of the reasons I find FB tiresome.

I have posted on their FB site multiple times with no answer/response, and was ready to just give up and say "F-Rye Models", so in desperation, on June 11 I messaged them on FB and and in classic smart-ass-edness that I am known for and said

"Hey i have asked multiple times, but are you ever going to release the M551 Sheridan? If you are not the, least you could do is to confirm"

that day...I GOT RESPONSE! They said:

"Hi,Sheridan will be released next month"

So depending on what you believe....should be soon? Maybe??

Thanks Bruce. Although I don't do FB, I do check both the FB pages and the manufacturers websites periodically (despite being accused otherwise) as well as other sources. Having worked in the Hobby industry for about 7 years, I know manufacturers don't answer their mail or update their websites (particularly some of the Chinese manufacturers, but it also applies to many others for various reasons). At the time I "resurrected" this post, no FB release date announcement had been made about this kit (other than sprue shots, box top and kit number and a tentative "April or"May" release). I "resurrected" my post on Sunday, and apparently the FB announcement was made Monday, so I missed it by one day. But there are other ways "announcements" are made outside of websites (or FB)-- as in distributors who receive advance information before a manufacturer publicly releases the info. Some of those distributors and their employees participate here (I did while I was working in the industry). Thanks to those who have helped pinpoint a time period to look for this this kit. And thanks to RFM for giving us a new M551A1 to look forward to. One thing I did learn in the industry is that all kits are limited in number, and although it's true you can sometimes find one later through various means, it's often more convenient to get it as early as possible rather than to wait. That's why I was asking the question in the first place.

Donald, thanks for that, I don’t recall them having it on pre-order before now. My experience with pre-orders is mixed. But Squadron is pretty reputable, and the distributor I worked for before used Squadron as a supplier as well, we always had a great relationship with them. And even better, my LHS uses Squadron and Stevens as distributors.

Just go to the Squadron web site.
Select Armor Kits, then Select the RFM tab.
It's right there they list it as Available for order for $71.59 U.S. Dollars.
Hope this helps.

Squadron's web page must be broken. Will not let me add to cart to pre-order.
Anyone know if they are on pre-order with anyone else.
