Cam,
I still mainly use enamels and would recommend Humbrol Matt 72 Khaki Drill or Matt 84 Mid Stone. The inside of the hood - if attached - is a Khaki colour, say Matt 26.
There was also a camouflaged version but that's really a different question(!)

Thanks for the help and the inspiration guys. I decided to drive out to a LHS and use the old MK.1 eyeball. I think Vallejo Iraqi Sand is a good base. Cheers
