I don't want to be a kill joy, and yes I'm getting old and set in my ways, but I can't say I like everything about the new layout. I like the colors, I also like the reply to and reply quote buttons near the top. Maybe I have to empty my cookies or something but I don't see any indications of which ones had new posts on them. I know many people use the "latest posts" page for this but some people don't and this seems to be forcing them to. On the latest posts page I thought there was columns for who started the post, as well as who was the last poster. Now I only see who the last poster is. Am I doing something wrong or is my memory false?

Same here Rodger. Not only that but I liked the old forums with the names in listed order.

Rodger,
I am use to this so don't worry. With as many members as we have there is no way to build something that will be 100% of what everyone wants.
As I have already stated.this page can no longer support this feature because it's CACHED. That means everyone (on English) sees the same page. The latest posts page is also cached, but with that page it obviously displays all the regular forums if there have been new posts.
My primary thought is this. If you are a once a day visitor then the old feature of a checkbox on each forum with a new post was kinda lame, as almost every forum would be checked. If you are a 2-5 times a day visitor then it probably worked okay. If you are a 4 times an hour (sometimes) visitor it didn't work all that well because the "cookie" method it uses is really hit or miss and far from perfect. So... my conclusion is that for all these types of users the Latest Posts page will work best.
So objection noted. But doubtful it will change back. I may add a "most active topic" for the forums below the focus forum though. Again it will only refresh every few hours.
Cheers,
Jim

i have to admit i also prefered the old layout,
as has already been addressed, i dont like that when i first log on in the morning, i cant see which topics have been active while ive been off site.
but obviously change cant suit everyone, and i understand why it needed to be done
cheers
