This is for Biggles ...As for tigers in the Ardennes no they are not all hybrids but a few were .. You can also use a late model These tigers were all with the 506 pz.Abt. They were all in the 4th company and was made up of tanks from Kompanie Hummel which was part of 301 flk. If you want to mark your tank right for the Ardennes they had Numbers starting with the number 4 and they were white outline with a green interior ...If you can believe what you see in Jean Restayn's Tigers on the Western Front. As for your SWS I don't really know and as a judge I can't know every vehicle by heart so if you don't have a picture just do it as is ..If you do find the info and you decide to change it don't forget to mention it on the judging sheet ...

im not sure what kinda camo your wanting to do but there are two kinda imo. there is the one with all the spots, which is much easier than it looks, and one where you just take your airbrush and do lil skinny lines and go wild till it looks right. for the spots you have two colors. your dark yellow and a red/brown kinda color. start with a coat of the dark color. the one you want the least of goes on first. this will be the red/brown lookin' color. then, take cotton balls and paste them in patters where you want the spots to be, or if you want thin lines mixed with spots paste them acordingly. after you get the design you want, take your dark yellow color or a desert tan with some yellow mixed in adding a touch of olive green(its what i used)(modelmaster/testors paints) then do an overcoat of the yellow color. take off the cotton balls and you ahve that camo patter. i have not used this but it looks simple and it came in the directions on my tamiya pkw IV. i used the go crazy with narrow lines aproach with three different colors. if you wnated to see the directions pm or email me and i can send a scan.

G'day all,
I'm new to the forum and I'm new to building tanks. I have been wondering the same things about the Tamiya Tiger Late Version. I am attempting to do the three colour cammo. I have the dark yellow base, but can't get the green and red brown just right like some of the photos I've seen here on the forum. Just wondering what brand paint and what colour code people have used. The paints recommended by Tamiya are not the same as the photo on the side. Does using an airbrush change the shade, as I don't have one at this stage and have been using a brush?
cheers

Hi Wolff welcome aboard....well the best thing I can say is Tamiya paints are close to the real color but I always add a bit of desert sand color to the dark yellow along with some white just to scale down the color a bit ...as for does the airbrush change the color....well I think it does just because you add less paint making it look lighter...I also lighten the dark green and redbrown colors too for the scale effect but I use buff or even flesh colors not get that greyish color to the green that white tends to do...
Hope to see you often on the forums

Thanks for the welcome and the tips Bear. I've stuffed the cammo a few times and I reckon I have about 10 layers of paint. Looks like I'm off to the shop for an airbrush. Then I'll need tips on using the airbrush, thinner, weathering ...... So you'll defintely see me around
