Can anyone help me better understand the vehicle numbering system in an independent tank battalion? I know the tanks in the "line" companies were numbered sequentially from 1-15, with 1-5 being 1st Platoon, 6-10 the 2nd Platoon, and 11-15 the 3rd Platoon. The 3 tanks from Company HQ were 16-18. Each tank number was prefaced by the company letter. This was the way the tanks of the 752nd line companies were numbered, and I assume this was generally true of other battalions.

Was there a standard numbering system for the other vehicles in the tank company, such as jeeps, halftracks, 2 1/2 ton trucks, etc?

And what was the numbering scheme for the vehicles in Battalion HQ?

Any help or references to good data sources would be greatly appreciated.
