I'm building the Tamiya Bren Carrier, forced recon, kit for Operation Overlord. The kit has decals for the 1st Bttn, Queens Royals, 7th Armored. I know the 7th was involved on D Day but I'm not sure about the Queens Royals. Would this unit have been involved in the time fram of D to D plus 3?

I can't find any reference to them in my books, but that doesn't mean that they weren't there. Anyone else help? or try "Google"

British regiments confound and confuse me, but maybe you can sort this out.
Here's a good list of D-Day links -- perhaps you can find a unit that matches some of your markings: http://www.ddaymuseum.co.uk/links.htm
The Queen's Royal Regiment were in India in 1941, by what I can gather from their website: http://www.regiments.org/milhist/uk/inf/002WSurr.htm#bh
Good luck!

going by the regimental history site, it would appear they were indeed in the far east.
however a battalion may have remained over here, ill have a look through my big book of british army orders of battle when i get home.
ill also ask my grandad, he served in burma with the wilts at the time they were over there.
cheers

Thanks guys. Hollowpoint, that first site you gave led to a link for British ground forces, which led to a link for the history of the 7th armored. The 1st Bttn, 5th Queens Royals were in fact part of the 131st Queens Brigade, and part of the the 7th Armored at Normandy. So it's full speed ahead with that unit.
Oh, by the way Dave, the guys here are nearly as fast, and much more fun, than a Google search.
