I have previously read that the British Armoured Corp once considered as a replacement for the Challenger I to use a Leopard 2 chassis with an US M1A1 turret.

I have now just recently read that the potential replacement for the Challenger II will be a mashup of a modified Challenger II chassis and a German turret. I am presuming they are talking about one of the Leopard 2 turret variants.

So either of these could be very interesting kit bashes.

I believe the challenger two with the German turret refers not to a leopard turret, but simply to a modified challenger turret fitted with a smoothbore gun, built by Rheinmetall
