I am collecting goodies for a LRDG chevy truck. I am looking for some nice British weapons, ammo magazines and ammo crates for the weapons. I am thinking a Lewis gun, the twin mounted machineguns, an antitank rifle and some rifles. Oh and for fun some well made gas/water cans.

Hi Greg,
If you google '1/35 scale British weapon set ww2' you get plenty of pictures of producers.
One of the MB Ltd, which sets I have experienced as very good and accurate.
Hope this helps.

The Riich British weapon sets are nice choices; for the cans, etc. Bronco's British Field Accessories is almost one stop shopping, you get a nice selection of stuff. The MB set isn't bad, you get a better selection of weapons in the Riich but they're also a bit more expensive.

Have a look at this site for some inspiration.
The LRDG used a tremendous amount of weaponry. From standard issue British Army kit, begged, borrowed and stolen Vickers K's, salvaged and modified aircraft machine guns and captured kit. They particularly liked the Breda 20mm.
A standard fit would be twin Vickers K's on the front passenger side, Vickers 303 heavy on the back pintle and extra mounts on the body sides. These could be used to fit a Lewis, single Vickers K or a Boys AT rifle. It also wasn't uncommon to see an M1928 Thompson fitted in the cab rifle racks along with trusty old Enfield SMLE's. Stens and Brens however are a no-no. The LRDG considered them too unreliable in the desert.
Almost everything is available in various sets. Best of luck and look forward to seeing your build.

I am ordering the Riich weapon sets today.
I see where most distributors list the Bronco field accessories as discontinued. Maybe someone has a spare set?
Next up are some ammo cans for the Vickers medium MG and Lewis gun.
What did the British use for boiling water for tea?
I thought It might be good to make the truck stopped for the night

Top,
I might have a set of them in the stash, it comes with a cooker, mess tin, the POW cans, jerry cans, etc. If I don't have one we got some Bronco stuff in at the store a couple weeks ago and I know we had a set in the order (putting away the order is a pain, but it has its' benefits). So I think I can help you out one way or another.

What is the name of your store man???
Why should I spend my hard earned cash with strangers when I can fork it over to you?

Greg, if you haven’t read it yet, I strongly recommend this book. Plenty of useful info there: https://www.amazon.com/Long-Range-Desert-Group-1940-1945/dp/0850528062

Jerry,
I just work there, it's The Spare Time Shop in Marlborough, MA. Been a customer since the mid 80's, but I've been working for Paul almost two years now. Love the job, when I got offered it I was thinking this is like giving a kid the keys to the candy store. If I pick up anything at the store for you you pay what I do which includes 25% off the tag as long it's not already on sale since I'm the one buying it.

Resicast and Panzerart both make various British ammo boxes. Resicast makes a greater variety with 5 or 6 different types, Panzerart does the .303 case.
The Dragon DAK figures set had a stove on it along with German bottles. The ancient ESCI British troops at rest had a British stove in it.
I'd go with the modified flimsy tin. You could actually make it from plastic card.

ThereTs this new on line site .... ebay..... Probably find a gazillion of those Bronco sets there. Also, Mini Art has a new-ish set of British fuel, oil, water containers.

Thanks for your suggestions! More for me to research.
Timothy, I try my best to support hobby stores directly and build a supplier base. The brick and mortar stores around me have all died off by the online competition or retirement of the owners. I have 6 stores I try to focus my business on. It is just my way of trying to keep some doors open.
