Hi All
Ive researched this but im hoping for some help. Were M2 ammo cans left in NATO green during both Gulf wars, or were some painted in desert sand?
Any help would be appreciated.

They were and are still NATO green. If you saw some in sand, it was probably because a Soldier repainted it and was using it to store personal gear (shaving kit, weapons cleaning kit, cigar box, dry socks, etc.).
