I'm currently finishing up a Tamiya Abrams, and looking to maybe replacing the crew figures that came with it. I know Miniart makes both modern USMC Tank Crew and US Army Tank Crew. I know that Army crewmen wore a one-piece coverall as well as the two-piece uniform. My question is whether there are marked differences that would preclude using the Miniart Marine crew, who are wearing a one-piece coverall, to represent Army crewmen? Any help would be appreciated. I don't think there would be an issue if they are just wearing the nomex coveralls, its the body armor that is different in 1:1, not sure about those two kits.

As Ryan says, it is mainly the ballistic vests. Check out this post (about half way down). I list the differences between the to kits/branches there.

Firstly, let me say thanks to you and Ryan for the quick response. Now I'm wondering about the feasibility of using the upper torso (with the body armor) from an Army crewman with the lower half of a Marine tanker to depict an Army crewman wearing the coverall? Al

Provided the bodies are split in the same spot, that should work fine. I have swapped torsos many times to update older figures to newer ones wearing IBAs.

Al,
The Miniart US Army tankers are good the way they are. You can paint the NOMAX suit either of the 3 colors, Olive Green, ACU pattern, or OCDP pattern.

You can even use the Miniart US Marines at Rest kit as Army tankers except the one with the body armor.

Thanks for the info Pete. Didn't the Nomex coveralls also come in Tan? Al
